The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has outlined the cut-off points and subject requirements for students seeking admission into the Bachelor of Education (Science) programme across Kenyan universities for the 2026 placement cycle.

The Bachelor of Education (Science) degree is designed to train qualified teachers with competence-based skills to teach science subjects at secondary and tertiary levels.

Graduates are also equipped with research and advanced academic skills in their respective fields.

To qualify, applicants must have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ or its equivalent. Alternatively, candidates with an advanced-level certificate with two principal passes and Division II at O-level may also be considered.

Diploma holders in education from recognized institutions must also meet the C+ requirement.

Applicants are required to choose subject combinations as guided by the Teachers Service Commission.

These include combinations such as Chemistry and Biology, Physics and Mathematics, Agriculture and Geography, Mathematics and Computer Studies, among others.

Different universities have set varying cut-off points based on competition and capacity. Leading institutions such as Kenyatta University require cut-off points of around 36.268, while Moi University and Maseno University stand at approximately 36.325 and 35.16 respectively.

The University of Nairobi follows closely with a cut-off of about 35.542.

Other institutions, including Egerton University and Kisii University, require cut-offs above 34 points. Universities such as Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and University of Eldoret have slightly lower thresholds, ranging between 32 and 33 points.

Mid-tier institutions like Machakos University, University of Kabianga, and Pwani University admit students with cut-offs ranging from 30 to 31 points.

Lower cut-off points are recorded in universities such as Murang’a University of Technology and South Eastern Kenya University, where students with around 22 points can qualify.

KUCCPS has urged students to carefully review their KCSE results, subject combinations, and preferred institutions before applying to improve their chances of placement.
