A new political party with national outlook has been unveiled in Lamu to champion for the rights of the marginalized in the country.
The party called Chama Cha Ujenzi (Ujenzi) Party code 916 which symbolizes development party with a symbol of a donkey was founded by Umra Omar, plans to mobilize voters across the country to push for development in marginalized areas.
Speaking during the unveiling of the party which is in the final stages of formation she said her vision was to come up with a party that will bring all people together regardless of ethnic differences or where one comes from.
An excited Umra with hundreds of supporters wearing TShirts branded Chama Cha Ujenzi marched in the streets of Lamu Island riding in a donkey to showcase how the animal is important for building the Nation.
Omar said the donkey is the one that has been used to build Lamu and was the right symbol to champion for the development.
She said currently they are planning massive sensitization program across the country to register members and popularise the party.
The Chama Cha Ujenzi founder said at the end of this week they intend to register over 50000 members and will continue with the sensitization program as they wait for the official launch of the party once all processes and structures are complete.
She urged all residents of Lamu county and Kenyans at large to support the new part as it means good for the development of the nation .
” This is a new dawn we have unveiled Chama Cha Ujenzi , it’s going to have members all over the country as it is an all inclusive party, I urge all people of Lamu and the entire country,” she said.
Feiswal Abdalla Salim a member of the new party said they were happy that Omar had come up with the new party and promised to support her popularise the party in the entire country.
Luca Belpietro a resident of Kajiado South who is also a member of the party said he wants to see the new party that had been unveiled that recognizes everyone regardless of their ethnic background or religion.
He said they will do what they can to ensure they register as many members as possible across the country.
Clinton Ngonyo a resident of Lamu said they were happy to see a new party with national outlook being unveiled in Lamu and promised full support.
He said having the party was timely because it will enable the region to have its own political vehicle.
Victor Muchangi a Gen-z from Lamu county said Chama Cha Ujenzi would be the political vehicle for the Coast region after PAA Party founded by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi folded it’s party and joined UDA.
