Tanzanian singer Nandy has addressed long-running rumours that she and fellow Bongo Flava star Zuchu are not on good terms, insisting that their relationship is far different from what some fans have assumed.
Nandy spoke about the speculation while attending the 40-day celebration of Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz’s daughter in Dar es Salaam on September 12. The event brought together family members, friends and several figures from Tanzania’s entertainment industry.
For years, some fans have interpreted the two singers’ public interactions as evidence of tension, with their respective positions in Tanzania’s music industry frequently placing them in the same conversations.
Nandy, however, rejected the idea that their friendly interactions are staged for the cameras. She explained that she and Zuchu regularly meet away from public events, including at recording studios and other entertainment-industry spaces.
The singer said their frequent encounters have allowed them to interact normally and maintain a cordial relationship outside the public eye. She also dismissed the idea that their success should automatically put them in competition with each other.
According to Nandy, both artistes can succeed without viewing one another as rivals, noting that there are enough opportunities within the music industry for different artistes to build successful careers.
Their social circles have also increasingly overlapped through their relationships with fellow musicians. Nandy is married to singer Billnass, while Zuchu is in a relationship with Diamond Platnumz, making their appearances at industry and family events more frequent.
Nandy’s presence at the 40-day celebration provided another public example of the two singers sharing the same space. Her comments have now offered a different perspective on the rivalry narrative that has circulated among some of their fans.
The singer’s remarks suggest that, despite continued public speculation, she considers her relationship with Zuchu cordial and free from the alleged hostility.
