Kilimani detectives have made a major breakthrough after arresting a notorious gang leader at her Nairobi residence and recovering a stolen Glock 19 pistol.
Four suspects are now in custody in connection with the case.
The drama began when a licensed firearm holder stayed at a hotel in Kilimani. Confident that his room was secure, he left his Glock 19 pistol along with two magazines loaded with 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition inside.On returning, he was shocked to find his room ransacked and the pistol missing.
Investigators immediately launched a detailed probe.
Forensic leads traced the stolen firearm to Kangemi in Dagoretti North.
Acting on this tip, detectives raided a residence where they found the pistol hidden and arrested four suspects, including the gang leader, identified as Beatrice Njoki.
The other suspects are Alex Agar, Harrison Oyuoma, and Dan Karani.The recovered firearm was in good condition, though attempts to conceal it had failed.
Police say the gang had been involved in multiple armed robberies across Nairobi, making the arrest a major win for law enforcement.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will soon appear in court for arraignment.
Investigators have urged the public to report any suspicious activity and reassured them that the crackdown on armed crime will continue.
