According to Foreign Minister Karamoko Traoré, the request from the U.S. asked Burkina Faso to take in individuals who are not even Burkinabe citizens, which the government viewed as a violation of its sovereignty and dignity.
Traoré stated that the country would not be used as a “dumping ground” for people unwanted elsewhere, emphasizing that Burkina Faso is “a land of dignity, not deportation.”
