Speaking on Monday, March 9, 2026, during the launch of the ACC offices in Mugoiri, Nyoro revealed that he received a phone call while travelling from Nairobi informing him that he needed a formal approval letter before proceeding with the launch.
However, the outspoken lawmaker dismissed the directive, insisting that the only authority he recognizes is the people of Kiharu. According to him, the office had already been built for the benefit of the local community and therefore did not require additional approval from unnamed authorities.
In a statement delivered partly in Kiswahili, Nyoro said he was shocked by the demand for a letter to open an office that had already been constructed in the constituency. He insisted that the only approval he required was from Kiharu residents who elected him to represent them.
Nyoro further challenged those allegedly instructing the police to stop the launch to face him directly instead of using intermediaries. He maintained that intimidation tactics would not deter him from serving his constituents.
The legislator also hinted at rising political tensions ahead of the 2027 General Election, stating that some leaders had already started panicking even though the election period was still far away.
This is not the first time Nyoro has faced attempts to block such initiatives. In 2025, there were similar efforts to prevent him from launching the Mjini ACC office in Kiharu. Despite the absence of the assistant chief who was expected to occupy the facility, the MP proceeded with the launch.
Nyoro’s relationship with the government has been strained since he declined to support the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The move marked the beginning of a political fallout that saw the MP maintain a long period of silence before later explaining that he believed the impeachment push was driven by political vendettas rather than national interest.
