Former CS Moses Kuria has expressed concern over the possibility of political instability ahead of key events expected in the coming weeks.
Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi on June 3, 2026, Kuria alleged that some political actors could be planning activities that may disrupt peace and security in the country.
He pointed to the upcoming anniversary of the July 7 Saba Saba demonstrations and court proceedings linked to the former Deputy President’s impeachment as events that could attract heightened political tensions.
Kuria said security agencies had already been put on alert and were prepared to deal with any attempts to cause unrest.
Although he did not provide evidence to support his claims, his remarks come at a time when political disagreements have continued to dominate public debate.
In recent months, demonstrations in different parts of Kenya have occasionally led to clashes between protesters and security officers, resulting in property damage and disruptions to businesses. Political leaders remain divided on the causes of such incidents and who should take responsibility for them.
