Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again captured the hearts of Kenyans after a touching moment with his adopted son went viral.
Sonko was seen travelling with the young boy and proudly referred to him as his son. In an emotional explanation, Sonko revealed that the boy, James, is the son of the late Michael Omworo Ombui, who was tragically stabbed to death by thugs in Mathare Area 4.
The short video quickly spread across social media, drawing massive attention and emotional reactions from Kenyans.
What touched many people most was the boy’s cheerful mood. Despite losing his biological father in such a painful way, James appeared happy, relaxed, and comfortable beside Sonko.
Many viewers said the child’s smile showed that Sonko has given him love, care, and a sense of family since taking him in.
Social media users flooded the comment section with mixed emotions. One user praised Sonko’s fatherly role but advised caution, saying:
“The moment you just said your son was enough. You just adopted the young man. Don’t let it be a constant reminder that the biological father was killed.”
Another user was full of praise and blessings for Sonko, commenting:
“May God continue to bless you Sonko for all that you do. The boy has people like you to care for him. This country needs more people like you.”
Many Kenyans agreed that beyond politics and controversy, this moment showed a softer and more human side of the former governor.
Sonko is known for adopting and helping orphans and this is something that he will forever be remembered for.
