Dinah Kituyi

One year after the passing of renowned journalist Michael Oyier, his family gathered to honor his memory in a heartfelt memorial service.

His widow, Dinah Kituyi, led the commemorative mass, where emotions ran high as she reflected on the journey of grief and healing since his death in 2024.

Dinah, overwhelmed with emotion, struggled to find words at the podium, pausing frequently to hold back tears. She shared how the loss of her husband had been one of the most difficult chapters in her life.

“Grief doesn’t follow a schedule,” she said. “I never anticipated it would be this hard. But through it all, God has been faithful.”

Surrounded by their children, extended family, and friends, Dinah expressed gratitude for the love and support she has received over the past year. She highlighted the sense of community that has held them together, especially for the younger generation in the family.

Notably, Dinah shared a silver lining amidst the sorrow — Michael’s older brother, Jeff, embraced Christianity following the loss. “One of the most profound things that has come from Michael’s passing is Jeff giving his life to Christ,” she said, describing it as a moment of spiritual renewal for the family.

As the family continues to heal, Dinah remains committed to raising her children with strong Christian values. She emphasized that while grief brings many questions, her faith has brought comfort, even in the absence of all the answers.

Michael Oyier’s legacy continues to live on through the lives he touched, and his family remains strong, anchored in faith and love.
