Goretti Wambui

A young woman from Murang’a county has shared a shocking story that sounds like a nightmare.

Goretti Wambui, just 24 years old, has faced pain from every corner—home, abroad, and even the church.

She got married at a young age to a boda boda rider because life at home was tough. But the marriage quickly turned sour. Her husband drank too much, lost his job, and became violent. To feed her children, Goretti began selling boiled eggs.

But her troubles didn’t stop there.

Hoping for a better life, she flew to Saudi Arabia as a house help. Sadly, her employer mistreated her and never paid her. After trying to escape, she was caught and deported back to Kenya.

Stranded in Nairobi with no job or money, a friend introduced her to a pastor. He promised to “pray away” her problems. But things took a dark turn.

“One day, he told me to come alone. He said all my problems would go away—if I slept with him,” she revealed.

Goretti refused. The pastor became furious and cursed her. “He said I would never be free from trouble,” she said.

His words seemed to come true. She lost her job, her friend kicked her out, and she was left with nothing. Even then, she stood firm and never returned to that church.

With no other choice, she returned to Murang’a to be with her children and try to rebuild her life again.

Goretti’s story is a powerful reminder that not every person in a church robe has pure intentions. Sometimes, the people we trust the most can be the ones who hurt us the worst.
