Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo was among the high profile guests who attended Charlene Ruto’s traditional engagement ceremony in Kilgoris, Narok County.
Charlene, the daughter of President William Ruto, was officially introduced to her Tanzanian fiancé Isaya Yunge during the colourful ceremony held at the president’s home.
While the event attracted several prominent personalities, Chivayo’s expensive wristwatch also caught the attention of many people.
The businessman was spotted wearing a Jacob and Co 18 Karat Twin Turbo Furious Baguette watch, which is valued at about KSh193.5 million, equivalent to USD1.5 million.
The luxury timepiece is one of the rarest watches produced by the New York based luxury brand. Only 18 pieces were made worldwide.
One of the watches was previously gifted to football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo by Jacob and Co founder Jacob Arabo.
The Twin Turbo Furious Baguette features an intricate design and a highly complicated mechanical movement. It contains 832 individual components and has twin triple axis tourbillons.
The watch is also fitted with a decimal minute repeater and a monopusher chronograph. Its 18 karat rose gold case measures 57mm by 52mm and is set with 344 baguette cut diamonds weighing about 18.32 carats.
Chivayo, who is known to be close to the Ruto family, also shared a message praising the family after attending the ceremony.
“I was genuinely so happy to meet the entire family and witness first hand the warmth, humility, love and unity that surrounds them,” he wrote.
He also praised President Ruto, describing him as “a leader par excellence” with tremendous vision, courage, resilience and determination.
Chivayo congratulated Charlene on her union and wished her happiness in the new chapter of her life.
“To my dear little sister Charlene Ruto, hongera sana on your beautiful union. May God Almighty bless this wonderful new chapter with love, peace, understanding, prosperity and endless happiness,” he wrote.
He described the ceremony as an unforgettable privilege and praised President Ruto for his commitment to Kenya’s development.
Chivayo’s presence, together with his multimillion shilling watch, added another talking point to a ceremony that brought together members of Kenya’s political and social elite.
