VoK which is the acronym of Voice of Kenya used to be used to be the only known media operation in the country. But along the way we are getting to see the rise of other major radio stations beating all odds to be on the rise.
Privately owned radio stations seems to be increasing since the late nineteens to early 200s leading to a boom in the world of entertainment. These has thus led to rise of iconic radio presenters who keep us both entertained and informed. Most of there radio presenters are know and loved by many.
1. Massawe Japani
Massawe Japani, who hosts the mid morning show popularly known as Bustani la Massawe on radio Jambo. Massawwe is a former Nation and Milele presenter. She is flamboyant and is good in engaging her listeners with her radiant personality. In her show she mostly address various issues and tries finding solutions to questions about life, family, money and relationships.
2. Mbusii and Lion Deh
Mbusii is one of the most popular and recognised radio host. He hosts his radio show Mbusii na Lion Teketeke alongside his co host Lion. Both of these presenters have always cultivated a culture for sheng and reggae playlist. In their discussions they cover more hilarious segments which include ‘Goteana’ which has callers sending their message s to other listeners and ‘Nyahunyo’ which helps individual’s.

3. Fred Arocho
Arocho is one of the top most football commentators in the country. He is also known for delivering to point football actions to many Kenyans in the comfort of their home. Arocho is best known for his slogan ‘Arocho si mchawi’ when commentating. Arocho also undertook training on professional sports broadcasting at a Talk Sports, one of the biggest broadcasting board in Kenya.
4. Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i
Maina and King’ang’i are one of the top names in the Kenyan radio industry largely due to their morning show. The show mainly entails classic hits and various segments including listeners calling in funny conversation and relationships advice.
Apparently, Mwalimu King’ang’i’s real name is Daniel Ndambuki popularly known by his stage name Churchill. Kageni on the other hand is a big veteran on the Kenyan radio and has made his voice familiar in the classic 105.

5.Gidi Gidi and Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee
Joseph Oyoo, popularly known as Gidi Gidi is a former Harambee stars coach while Jacob’Ghost’Mulee has been a banger over the years with their show ‘Gidi na Ghost asubuhi’. One of the most listened to radio station in the country. The morning show airs from 6:00 a.m to 10:00 am. The best and most enjoyable segments is ‘patanisho’ which has them attempting to reconcile couples by calling them on air
