Nairobi residents were left stunned after a woman was spotted walking through the city streets dressed in a wedding gown while holding a handwritten placard declaring that she was searching for a husband.

The woman, identified as Pricila Njeri, is a 35 year old Nairobi resident who decided to take an unconventional approach to finding a life partner. Her bold move quickly attracted attention from passers by, many of whom stopped to read her message, take photos, and engage her in conversation.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Njeri openly shared the motivation behind her decision, explaining that she was serious about marriage and felt it was time to step out of her comfort zone. According to her, conventional dating methods had not yielded the results she hoped for, prompting her to try something different and more direct.

Njeri revealed that she is specifically looking for a man from the Kikuyu community, aged between 40 and 45 years. She explained that her preference was influenced by shared cultural values, maturity, and the desire for a stable and meaningful marriage. She added that she is not interested in casual relationships but is instead focused on settling down with someone who shares similar goals.

The wedding gown she wore also caught the attention of many. Njeri told TUKO.co.ke that she sourced the gown from a local bridal shop, opting for an affordable option rather than an expensive designer dress. She said the gown symbolised her readiness for marriage and helped clearly communicate her intentions to the public without the need for lengthy explanations.

Explaining why she chose to take her search to the streets, Njeri said she wanted to send a strong message about being intentional. She noted that society often places pressure on women regarding marriage, yet openly seeking a partner is sometimes frowned upon. By stepping out publicly, she hoped to normalise honest conversations about relationships and encourage others not to be ashamed of what they want.

Her action sparked mixed reactions among Nairobi residents and online users. While some praised her courage, confidence, and honesty, others expressed surprise at her method, with a few questioning whether public searches for partners are appropriate. Despite the differing opinions, many agreed that her move ignited an important discussion about modern dating and societal expectations.

Njeri maintained that she is unbothered by criticism and remains optimistic. She said that if her bold step helps her find the right partner, then it will have been worth it. She also encouraged women not to give up on love, stressing that there is no single correct way to pursue happiness.

As her story continues to circulate online, Pricila Njeri’s daring act has firmly placed her at the centre of conversations about love, marriage, and the evolving ways people seek meaningful relationships in today’s society.
