Kenyan singer Nadia Mukami has revealed an unusual birthday wish as she prepares to celebrate her 30th birthday.
Instead of asking fans and friends for the usual presents, the singer said she would prefer building materials for her special day.
In a light-hearted post on Instagram, Mukami told her followers that cement and steel were the gifts she wanted as she approached the milestone birthday.
“My 30th birthday is almost here: The only birthday gift nataka ni Cement na chuma,” she wrote.
Mukami also asked fans to avoid the dramatic birthday messages often shared by celebrities and influencers.
“Mambo ya ‘A Queen was born’ naomba we do not do that this year,” she joked.
Her post attracted reactions from fans and fellow entertainers. Content creator Tanasha Donna responded with emojis, while another follower joked that Mukami wanted people to say they had helped build her a house.
The comment received more than 200 likes as other fans joined the conversation.
Mukami’s unusual request appears to be linked to her construction project. She shared photos from what looked like an active building site, showing unfinished walls and workers handling steel materials.
In one of the pictures, the singer posed for a selfie at the site as construction work continued behind her.
The singer’s request has therefore given her upcoming birthday a different theme, with construction materials taking the place of cakes and traditional presents.
Mukami rose to prominence through Coke Studio Africa and has released several songs during her music career.
She also shares a son, Kai, with fellow musician Arrow Bwoy.
As she approaches 30, the singer appears focused on turning the milestone into an opportunity to continue working on her construction project.
