Prominent Kenyan politician and lawyer Martha Karua is blessed with two children, a girl and a boy.
The daughter, Wanjiru Kamau, is quite known by many, while her son, George Maringa, is quite low-key.
So, who is George Maringa, and what has his life been like over the years? Let us dive into it.
George Maringa, Martha Karua’s only son, studied at Don Bosco Technical Secondary School from about 2009 to 2012.
He then later joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and then graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a broadcast journalism specialisation.
Following the completion of his studies, George worked for the African Virtual University (AVU) in various capacities, especially in educational technology and learning resources, before moving into mainstream media.
His move into mainstream media was one of his biggest, as it exposed him to Kenya’s events and news.
He began as an intern in 2017 at Standard Media’s KTN (Kenya Television Network) and slowly rose through the ranks as a reporter and finally ended up being a news anchor.
After almost five years and 11 months working as a KTN staff member, George resigned from his position as an anchor to focus on something else, leaving mainstream media.
His resignation is something that left many Kenyans surprised after five years of building a bond with lots of Kenyan audiences, but his move to resign was later respected.
Apart from journalism, he has been described as caring about humanitarian issues, reporting on crises, for example, the Ethiopian refugee crisis at the Kenya-Ethiopia border in Moyale.
Reports also reveal that George is a Gif-fearing man and is actively involved in singing choir songs when out of his media involvements.
