Comedian and former radio presenter Francis Munyao, popularly known as MCA Tricky, has shared a rare, personal account of the emotional struggles he faced following the death of his child’s mother and his journey as a single father.
Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Chris the Bass, the stand-up comic revealed that losing his baby mama left him deeply confused, gloomy, and struggling to navigate his new reality.
Key Highlights from the Interview
Tricky admitted he initially believed parenting was primarily about financial provision. The loss shifted his perspective, forcing him to embrace the immense emotional weight of single parenthood: “I thought raising a kid was all about money. Now you see the weight you feel. You work times three.”
The hardest hurdle involved answering his young son’s questions about his mother shortly after her burial. Over time, his son has grown into a strong boy who now understands the tragedy better.
Tricky highlighted the challenge of protecting his child from unintentional triggers in public spaces, noting he had to personally brief teachers so they could handle sensitive family topics with care.
The comedian shared his reflections as his son marks his 9th birthday, proudly calling the young boy a “soldier” who has shown remarkable strength over the years.
