Digital creator Liz Jackson has fiercely defended her friend Mungai Eve amid mounting online backlash over her career shift.
Eve, once renowned for her viral street interviews that catapulted her to fame across East Africa, has faced intense scrutiny for focusing on her business ventures, particularly her smartphone sales through Ekay I Store.
The criticism intensified after Eve approached Lang’ata MP Jalang’o at a public event to promote her tech hustle.
While urging support for her brand, Jalang’o quipped that she should return to content creation “that’s the Eve we knew” sparking debates and trolls who claimed her career had “fallen off” following her 2024 split from former partner and director Trevor.
In a passionate Instagram video, Liz Jackson dismissed the negativity. “Just because we are no longer loitering around with a microphone asking people for interviews doesn’t mean she is not bringing money to the table or not doing well in life,” she stated.
Jackson explained that Eve has evolved, outgrowing her early 20s persona from six years ago.
“She is my friend, and I can guarantee you she is making more money than years ago. She has businesses, and it is not for her to come and announce that shop is not the only business she has; she has so many,” Liz revealed, highlighting the lucrative nature of Eve’s entrepreneurial pursuits.
Eve responded appreciatively in the comments: “Thanks for saying it out loud my love. It’s crazy to expect someone to be the same person they were 6 years ago when they were just 20 yrs old!!!” She has since laughed off the claims, signaling confidence in her growth.
The episode underscores broader conversations about content creators diversifying beyond fame into sustainable businesses, urging fans to respect personal and professional evolution.
