Kenyan media personality Tallia Oyando has given her followers a striking visual representation of her weight-loss journey after revealing that she has shed 22 kilograms this year.
The veteran reggae host shared an Instagram video on Tuesday, August 25, in which she lifted a heavy water container representing the amount of weight she had lost.
The simple demonstration appeared to surprise Tallia herself, as she acknowledged that she had never fully understood how much 22kg represented until she physically lifted it.
“Went in for my wellness checkup and they asked me to carry the amount of weight I’ve lost,” Tallia wrote while sharing the video.
She added that the experience made her realise just how significant the change had been.
According to Tallia, her progress has involved maintaining a calorie deficit alongside medically supervised treatment.
Earlier reports have also linked Tallia to semaglutide, commonly associated with medicines such as Ozempic, as part of her weight-management journey. However, her latest post focused more broadly on the combination of calorie control and professional medical supervision rather than giving details about a specific medication.
Tallia said she is now entering another stage of her transformation and has slightly increased her calorie intake.
She also plans to return to the gym, where she intends to concentrate on toning and strengthening her body.
Most importantly, the media personality said she is pleased with how she currently feels.
“I am very happy with how I feel,” she said, signalling that her focus is not simply on the number displayed on a weighing scale but also on her overall wellbeing.
The video attracted considerable attention from her followers, many of whom congratulated her for reaching the milestone.
Some fans described the water-container demonstration as an eye-opening way of showing the physical reality behind losing 22kg.
Tallia has previously spoken publicly about her experience with medically supervised weight management and has encouraged people interested in such treatments to seek professional guidance rather than copying celebrities or using medication without medical advice.
The latest update comes after Tallia’s long career in Kenyan entertainment and broadcasting.
Known to many fans as the “Night Nurse,” she has been associated with reggae programming for years and previously hosted the One Love show on Citizen TV before leaving the programme in January 2025 after an eight-year run.
For Tallia, the latest milestone appears to be less about chasing a particular appearance and more about feeling comfortable with the progress she has made.
Her decision to combine controlled eating, medical supervision and plans for exercise also shows that her next goal is maintaining her progress while improving her strength and fitness.
The 22kg milestone has therefore become more than just a number for the media personality it has given her followers a tangible picture of the transformation she has experienced over the past year.
