The Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has given a way forward in regards to the reopening of schools in the nation to enable students to continue with their studies without being interrupted by the Electoral process that has being going in the country for the last few days.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 17th, Magoha noted the fact that the Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga will head to the Supreme Court of Kenya to file a petition to challenge the presidential results and that a repeat of elections may be ordered by the court as a result.

However, the CS reiterated that the schools will still be opened on Thursday, August 18th, despite the fact schools are being used as polling stations and explained that voting is a one-day exercise and therefore the students could still remain in schools.

“The (students) can be asked to play games and asked to stay in their hostels,” stated Magoha.

The statement from the CS Magoha comes just two days after the Presidential results were announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday, August 15th.
