A Kisumu resident has called on police officers, to approach the upcoming protest with compassion and understanding, urging them to carry water and bread during the scheduled demonstration on Wednesday, June 25th.

The resident spoke during an interview with K24, where he encouraged people across Kisumu County to participate in the protest peacefully.

The protest, which marks the anniversary of last year’s Gen Z demonstrations, is being held in remembrance of those who lost their lives and those who were affected during that period.

The resident emphasized that the purpose of this protest is not only to demand justice, but also to show unity among Kenyans from all walks of life including law enforcement officers.

He said that the protesters were not going to the streets to create conflict, but to raise their voices against injustice.

He urged the police not to see the demonstrators as enemies, but as fellow citizens pushing for a better Kenya.

“We are encouraging all the people of Kisumu to come out and join the protests,” he told K24. “On that Wednesday, we hope that if possible, the police can carry water and bread too, because we are also fighting for their rights.”

He stressed that police officers, just like ordinary Kenyans, are affected by the high cost of living, lack of proper healthcare, and poor working conditions.

For that reason, he explained, the message of the protest should include their needs as well.

The resident also said that Kenyans would continue to stand in solidarity with victims of past protests, especially the families who lost loved ones and those who suffered injuries or trauma.

He noted that supporting them is a key part of honoring democracy.

He concluded by calling for peace, and unity during the demonstration, saying that real change can only come when all Kenyans stand together for justice, fairness, and human dignity.
