Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about the deep sense of loss he is carrying into the new year following the death of his former wife, celebrated gospel singer Betty Bayo.
As the calendar turned to 2026, the Salvation Healing Ministries preacher shared a reflective message that revealed how difficult it has been to accept her sudden absence.
Betty Bayo passed away in November while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital. She had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, an illness that progressed rapidly and left family, friends and fans shocked.
Although Kanyari and Betty had separated years earlier, they remained closely connected through their children, Sky Victor and Danivictor, and continued to communicate regularly about their upbringing.
In his New Year message shared on social media, Kanyari spoke candidly about how unreal the loss still feels. He admitted that if someone had told him a year ago that Betty would not be alive to see the new year, he would have dismissed it.
The reality of her passing, he said, has forced him to confront how fragile life truly is.
Kanyari used the moment to encourage his followers to value the people around them and not take time for granted. He reminded them that life can change without warning and urged families to hold onto love and understanding while they still can.
His message struck a chord with many who have experienced loss, especially those who have lost loved ones unexpectedly.
The pastor has not hidden his grief since Betty’s death. He has previously been seen in public visibly emotional and has spoken openly about the pain of losing the mother of his children.
Despite their past differences, he has consistently expressed respect and appreciation for the role she played in their family and in the lives of their sons.
Following his post, messages of comfort and encouragement poured in from fans and fellow believers.
Many praised him for acknowledging his pain openly and for maintaining a respectful tone when speaking about Betty.
Others noted that the peaceful co parenting relationship they shared stood as a strong example, even after separation.
In a related matter, Kanyari recently appealed to social media users to stop attacking Tash, Betty’s widower.
He clarified that there was no bad blood between them and insisted that Betty’s marriage was peaceful.
He asked for understanding and space as he focuses on healing and guiding his children through a difficult chapter.
As the year begins, Kanyari’s reflections paint the picture of a man learning to live with loss while encouraging others to treasure life, family and faith.
