There is joy in Kiambu after a mother gave birth to 5 babies at once through normal delivery.
The mother is called Mercy Kanini. She delivered the 5 babies at Thika County Referral Hospital. Now she has 7 children in total, because she already had 2 children before.
Mercy said she was surprised on the day of delivery. She had gone to hospital thinking she had 4 babies inside her. But doctors found 5.
She said when she arrived at the hospital, one baby was already coming out. The doctor came to check her and wanted to take her to theatre for an operation (C-section), but she was able to give birth normally.
Mercy and her husband Evans Nyamuhanga are very happy. They have welcomed 5 new members into their family.
But they are also asking for help. The husband has asked the county government and kind people to help them raise the 5 babies. He says it is not easy to take care of so many babies at once and they need support.
