The ongoing Kenya Wildlife Service recruitment has shown how high the number of jobless youths is, how willing to work the youths and how desperate they are to secure jobs. Those who are seeking the ranger positions must be adults aged 18-26 years.
The exercise enters its third day, held in nine counties including Wajir, Kajiado, Kilifi, Muranga, Bomet, Kisumu,Elgeyo Marakwet, Bungoma and Tharaka Nithi.
For verification, individuals are expected to present a duly filled prescribed form together with all relevant academic certificates and national ID cards. They must also posses a minimum mean KCSE grade of D Plain or its equivalents from an examination body recognized in Kenya.
Successful candidates will be taken through mandatory preliminary training for six months and then be deployed to the field. The KWS also intends to recruit some 350 more cadets during the process who must be aged 28 years and above with no criminal record.
