Carol Kim, the second wife of renowned Kikuyu gospel artist Karangu wa Muraya, has spoken out to set the record straight following a viral video that sparked rumors of a possible breakup.
The clip, which showed her appearing emotional and in tears, quickly fueled speculation of marital discord in the singer’s polygamous household.
However, Carol has firmly dismissed the claims, clarifying that the video in question is from 2020 and was merely part of a TikTok challenge using a fake tears filter.
“This was just a TikTok challenge I did in 2020. Now these idiots are spreading it around,” she said, expressing frustration before making her TikTok account private.
The video resurfaced amid increased attention on Karangu’s family life, especially after he gifted his first wife, Triza Njeri, a Nissan X-Trail an upgrade from her previous Demio. The move raised eyebrows online, particularly given Carol Kim’s own more luxurious Toyota Harrier.
Since Karangu publicly introduced Carol in February, fans have closely monitored the relationship between his two wives.
Tensions appeared to rise after Triza, during a fan interaction, declared, I have no co-wife, further fueling speculation about their family dynamic.
The saga took another twist during Triza’s album launch on April 27, where Karangu donated KSh 200,000 and publicly reaffirmed his love for her.
This came despite Triza having earlier claimed the two had separated a statement Karangu contradicted, insisting they are still together.
In recent weeks, Karangu and Triza have been seen appearing together in brand deals, with Triza also showcasing her newly furnished home on social media. Their children currently live with Karangu.
