Betty died in November while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, weeks after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. She leaves behind two children, Sky Victor and Danivictor, whom she shared with Kanyari.
Although their marriage ended years ago, the two had maintained a respectful and cooperative relationship as co-parents.
This bond was evident in previously leaked WhatsApp conversations, where they discussed parenting matters and the well-being of their children.
As the new year began, Kanyari took to social media to reflect on the loss, admitting that Betty’s death still feels unreal to him.

He described the pain of welcoming a new year without the mother of his children, saying it was something he never imagined would happen so soon.
“If someone had told me that on a day like this Betty would not be alive, I would not have believed it,” he wrote, adding that he is slowly learning to accept a reality that still feels heavy.
Beyond expressing his grief, the preacher used the moment to remind his followers about how fragile life can be. He urged people to value every moment and the people around them, noting that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
“As we step into a new year, let us learn to appreciate life and every small moment we are given,” he shared.
Kanyari’s message struck a chord with many online. Supporters and followers flooded his comment section with words of comfort, prayers, and encouragement, acknowledging the pain of losing someone who remained important despite a separation.
