The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that all pending by-elections across the country will be held on Thursday, 27th November 2025.

In a statement, the Commission confirmed that the gazettement process will be done in two phases.

The first batch, already published on Friday, 8th August 2025, covers 16 ward seats spread across Samburu, Nandi, Tana River, Garissa, Nairobi City, Kakamega, Elgeyo Marakwet, Machakos, Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira and Turkana counties.

The second batch will be published in a Special Gazette on Monday, 11th August 2025.

It will include one Senate seat in Baringo County, six National Assembly seats in Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North and Ugunja constituencies, and one County Assembly seat in Kabuchai/Chwele Ward, Bungoma County.

IEBC urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and take part in the exercise, stressing that public participation is vital in strengthening democracy.

The Commission also called on Kenyans to remain alert and resist the spread of misinformation, noting that verified information will be shared through its official channels.

The upcoming polls are expected to fill leadership gaps left by various causes, including resignations, impeachments, and deaths of sitting leaders. Political parties are now expected to move fast to nominate candidates ahead of the campaign period.

IEBC has assured the public that all logistical preparations, including security arrangements and training of election officials, are underway to ensure a smooth and credible process.
