Suna East member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has caused a moment of fireworks in Parliament after fearlessly opposing the plan to create a special fund for the Ministry of Defence.
According to the video shared, the Azimio allied lawmaker claimed that the deal is aimed at embezzling public funds because for the kart five years the ministry has been receiving appropriation of over Shs 400b which has been managed very well without any problem. He has then questioned the essence of creating a special fund which he believes will be used in pocketing taxpayers money for the benefit of few.
“Madam Speaker when you see people doing funds, there’s always a fishy element, there are people targeting that money. Every financial year we appropriating over Shs 400b every financial year to the ministry of defence which has been used very well for the last five years, then why create a special fund if people managing those money have been doing very well for the last five years. I want to urge the house that let us deceit from urge from Judiciary to create special funds for special purposes, and you will remember my statements one time,” MP Junet Mohamed said.
This comes as the government is proposing to create a special fund unit for the ministry of defence irregardless of the ministry having it’s on appropriation.
