Kenyan content creator and aspiring politician Jaymo Ule Msee has joined a growing list of public figures who have apologised to Kenyans following backlash over their support for President William Ruto and his administration.

The comedian, whose real name is Wilson Muirani Gathoni, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, apologised to Gen Z over remarks he made during the June 25, 2025, protests, admitting that he had failed to respect the concerns raised by young Kenyans.

Jaymo acknowledged that his political involvement had affected his relationship with some of his followers, adding that he had lost focus on the creative work that initially made him popular.

His apology came as he opened up about financial difficulties, which he partly attributed to his political decisions, and appealed to fans for support as he sought to rebuild his career.

He is among several public figures who have faced criticism over their political positions and subsequently sought forgiveness from Kenyans.

Here are some of the personalities who have publicly expressed regret or apologised after backing Ruto.

Jaymo publicly apologised to Gen Z, admitting that his political remarks had hurt some of the young Kenyans who previously supported his content.

In a statement shared with his followers, the comedian acknowledged that he had lost his way while pursuing political ambitions and had drifted from the creative work that made him popular.

“To Gen Z: I sincerely apologise for my insensitive remarks on 25 June 2025. I failed to give your pain and concerns the respect they deserved. I should have listened. I was wrong,” he said.

He also apologised to people who felt hurt by his political videos, taking responsibility for his words and actions.

Jaymo further revealed that his political choices and financial mistakes had cost him financially, prompting him to seek support as he planned his return to content creation.

Cassypool Capon

Content creator Cassypool Capon admitted that his public support for President Ruto had affected his entertainment brand and cost him followers.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the influencer said he regretted the decision because of its impact on his career.

“I do regret supporting President William Ruto. I do regret it because it cost me my brand. I killed my brand,” he said.

Cassypool also apologised to fans who felt hurt by his political position, asking them to forgive him for taking a stand that affected their relationship with him.

“Please find somewhere in your heart to forgive me. I did wrong; I chose a political stand, I am so sorry,” Cassypool apologised.

However, he maintained that he would still have supported Ruto if given another opportunity to make the same decision.

The influencer also disclosed that the online backlash affected his family, with his wife and children exposed to negative comments directed at him.

Dyana Cods

Rapper Dyana Cods also found herself at the centre of public criticism after expressing support for President Ruto during the protests against his administration.

In June 2025, the musician questioned Kenyans who criticised the president, declaring her support for him in a social media post.

Her remarks attracted criticism from social media users, with some accusing her of disregarding the concerns raised by young people.

In July 2025, Dyana publicly apologised to her fans during a performance at Zetech University, where she knelt on stage while asking for forgiveness.

“Na apologise to everybody, nawependa manze. Sorry for the words I said that hurt you. Nawependa mafans wangu sana, I choose you over any president,” she said.

She later explained that her initial posts were part of a truth-or-dare game, adding that she stood with the people.

Nelson Havi

Former Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi also publicly expressed regret over his decision to support Ruto during the 2022 General Election.

Havi, who unsuccessfully contested the Westlands parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, apologised to Kenyans in September 2025.

Speaking during a television interview, the lawyer said the Kenya Kwanza administration had failed to deliver on some of the promises it made during the campaigns.

He cited challenges in education, healthcare, employment and business opportunities, arguing that the government’s performance had fallen short of its people-centred agenda.

“I am disappointed and apologise most profusely to the people of Kenya,” Havi said.

He also challenged Ruto to engage directly with young Kenyans, including Gen Z, to discuss the government’s plans and achievements.
