A video doing the rounds online has shown Lang’ata legislator Jalang’o shoving content creator Rex Papi. Born Rex Momanyi Gichana, the popular content creator rose to fame in 2023 for his unconventional and humorous videos.
He became known for his bold street interactions, where he casually walked up to strangers, posed beside them, and sometimes wrapped an arm around them before moving on, leaving many surprised or laughing. How did Rex Papi prank Jalang’o? His playful confidence and originality made his clips go viral, earning him admiration for bringing laughter to everyday life.
Unlike many creators who follow scripted trends, Rex’s spontaneous and fearless style helped him stand out in Kenya’s rapidly growing digital entertainment scene.
His videos have continued to attract thousands of views across social media, earning him over 570,000 followers and counting. On Friday, October 31, Rex came across Jalang’o at a night event. In his typical fashion, he had his phone in selfie mode and recorded himself walking up to the MP.
He stared at Jalang’o, who seemed puzzled by his actions. They stared at each other for a short while before looking at the camera, and stared at each other once again. Growing fed up with his antics, Jalang’o pushed Rex away. He pointed at the content creator while smiling, before lightly knocking him on the back of his head. Rex walked off as Jalang’o and his friends laughed.
Rex laughed off the incident and wrote: “Even MPs can’t escape my camera. Caught Hon Jalang’o off guard. Member of Parliament, Lang’ata.” It is worth noting that the video is likely a skit by the two, as Jalang’o knows who Rex is and his type of content.
