President William Ruto has built a business portfolio spanning agriculture, real estate, hospitality, insurance and other investments. Over the years, several properties and companies have been linked to him and his family through public records, official disclosures and statements attributed to the president.

However, Ruto has also disputed ownership of some assets that have previously been listed as part of his wealth.

One of his best-known investments is his farm in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County. The agricultural estate is associated with large-scale poultry and crop farming.

In 2021, Ruto said his poultry business had about 200,000 chickens and produced around 150,000 eggs every day, generating approximately KSh1.5 million in daily sales at the time.

Other farms linked to Ruto include Murumbi Farm in Trans Mara, Narok County, and Mata Farm in Taita Taveta County. A government briefing in 2021 also attributed several agricultural and residential properties to him.

Ruto, however, denied owning the 15,000-acre ADC Mutara Ranch in Laikipia County. He also rejected claims that he owned Nairobi’s 680 Hotel and Hotel Boulevard.

Weston Hotel along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi has long been associated with the Ruto family. Earlier records linked Ruto, his wife Rachel and daughter Charlene to the hotel and companies connected to its ownership. The property has been involved in a long-running dispute over the land on which it stands.

In 2025, Ruto’s name was removed from the latest list of Weston Hotel directors and shareholders, while Rachel and Charlene remained listed.

The family has also been linked to Dolphin Hotel in Shanzu, Mombasa, which was previously reported to have cost about KSh600 million to build.

In the insurance sector, the Ruto family has been linked to Africa Merchant Assurance Company, commonly known as Amaco. Business registration records reported in 2024 indicated that the family held 190,000 Amaco shares through Yegen Farms Limited.

Ruto has also disclosed investments in listed companies, including Safaricom and Kenya Airways.

Other properties associated with the family over the years include Karen residences, Intona Ranch in Kilgoris, Osere Flats and Easton Apartments.

While these properties and businesses have been linked to Ruto or his family in various records and reports, ownership of some assets has been disputed and should not automatically be treated as the president’s personal property.
