A young Kenyan woman has caused a storm on TikTok after publicly cutting ties with her parents and warning them never to contact her again.
The woman, identified as TikTok user Gladohkite, shared screenshots of private chats where she firmly told her family to forget about her completely. In her message, she expressed deep frustration, saying she wanted nothing more to do with her parents.
“Don’t you ever call this number again. For the last time, don’t ever call this number again. Mind your own business. I do not talk to anyone back at home, and if I ever need you, maybe it will only be when you bury me,” she wrote in one of the viral messages.
Her sibling, who seemed concerned, reached out and begged her to forgive their parents, saying they were suffering because of her silence. However, Gladohkite stood her ground, questioning why her family would expect her attention after, in her view, making her life toxic.
The leaked chats sparked mixed reactions online. Some Kenyans supported her stance, noting that even parents can be harmful if they constantly hurt their children. Others felt she had gone too far, arguing that no matter the circumstances, parents deserve respect.
One TikTok user commented, “Wazazi ni muhimu sana, hata kama wako toxic aje.” Another countered sharply, “If my family treated me like that, hata kwa mazishi yangu sitawataka.”
This isn’t the first time family disagreements have spilt online. Recently, another young woman leaked chats with her father, accusing him of demanding money constantly until she had no choice but to walk away.
Gladohkite’s decision may be controversial, but it reflects a growing reality that some young people are no longer afraid to sever ties when family relationships become too heavy to carry.
