Nyandarua Senator Kaba Methu has responded to claims by Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro that President William Ruto helped finance the construction of his house in 2024.

Methu, who serves as the Secretary General of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has dismissed the allegations, saying they do not reflect what happened. He has maintained that the money he received was a loan rather than a gift from the Head of State.

According to Methu, he was facing financial difficulties following the Ol Kalou by-election and decided to seek assistance from Nyoro, whom he described as a friend. He said the financial support was meant to help him deal with the challenges he was facing at the time.

The senator’s response comes amid growing political differences among leaders as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election. Nyoro has recently been associated with political discussions surrounding the future of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the direction of the opposition.

Methu also reportedly said he consulted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the matter, claiming that Gachagua supported his account of events.

The disagreement has drawn attention to the relationship between the two leaders, particularly as political alliances continue to shift ahead of the next election.

Financial assistance among politicians has often become a subject of public debate, especially when questions arise over whether money was given as a loan, a donation or support for political activities.

However, the claims made by both sides should be considered carefully, and the full circumstances surrounding the financial arrangement remain important in understanding the dispute.

Neither the existence of a loan agreement nor its repayment terms have been independently established in the information provided.

As the political debate continues, Kenyans will be watching to see whether Nyoro responds to Methu’s latest remarks and provides further details about his allegations.
