David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, and Wahu Kagwi have very different personalities, but it is that contrast that has become one of the defining features of their relationship.

Their story began much earlier, when they were university students at the University of Nairobi.
Nameless was studying architecture while Wahu was pursuing mathematics. They met in 1998 and gradually developed a relationship that would eventually take them from campus romance to marriage and family life.
According to a past interview with The Standard, their first official date came on Boxing Day after they had been introduced by a mutual friend. Their courtship lasted several years, with the couple spending time together through outings, picnics, camping trips and other activities.
After about seven years of dating, Nameless proposed. The couple eventually exchanged vows on September 10, 2005, at Lake Naivasha. Their wedding took place outdoors, with the couple choosing the location partly because of their memories of camping there during their university days.
But marriage did not immediately become the smooth continuation of their university romance.
The couple has repeatedly acknowledged that their early years of marriage were difficult. Nameless previously described the first five years as confusing, saying they had to learn how to navigate their different personalities and expectations.
They eventually sought professional counselling, which helped them understand that many of the problems they were experiencing were not unusual in marriage.
Rather than viewing their disagreements as proof that their relationship was failing, counselling helped them develop better ways of communicating and dealing with their differences.
