Popular Kikuyu musician Gachathi wa Thuo is breathing a sigh of relief after fellow artists rallied behind him to help ease his financial burden. The singer, who has been struggling to clear a Ksh 3 million loan, received significant support on Monday when a group of celebrities convened at the Elysian Hotel to raise funds on his behalf.

Led by musician and philanthropist Karangu Muraya, the team managed to collect Ksh 1,722,000 in just a few hours. Muraya shared the update through his Facebook page, expressing gratitude to all contributors and urging more well-wishers to continue supporting Gachathi, noting that the amount raised, though substantial, was still not enough to offset the entire loan.

Gachathi’s financial challenges had escalated in recent months, leading to the repossession and auction of his personal vehicle as part of the lender’s efforts to recover the debt. Despite the auction, the remaining balance of Ksh 3 million still stood, placing the musician at risk of losing even more property. Reports indicated that the lender was preparing to seize his home and a parcel of land valued at Ksh 20 million if the debt was not settled promptly.

The growing threat to his property prompted Muraya and other artists to intervene, mobilizing the public to assist the struggling musician. Their swift action not only helped raise a significant amount but also shed light on Gachathi’s dire situation, prompting an outpouring of sympathy from fans and supporters.

Well-wishers have been encouraged to continue contributing as efforts remain underway to help Gachathi fully clear the outstanding loan and regain financial stability.
