After her failed bid for Migori County Governor in 2022, former Women Representative Dr Pamela Odhiambo is determined to make amends for her past failures to clinch the seat in 2027.
Dr Odhiambo, a political force in Migori County, lost the ODM party ticket to the then senator, Dr Ochilo Ayacko, who went on to win the Governor seat in 2022.
In 2017, the former Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology lecturer, announced her arrival into Migori County politics when she defeated Denitah Ghati to win the women representative seat on an ODM party ticket.
The wife of renowned academic and Meru University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Prof Romanus Odhiambo, has now set her eyes on the big prize.
To her, even after slipping in 2022, winning the Governor seat is her ultimate goal. She has now rolled her sleeves, ready to battle it out with the men and other women in the race to oust Dr Ayacko.
The daring former MP has made a bold move by joining President William Ruto’s UDA party, which she intends to use as her vehicle to springboard her political ambitions.
The working relationship between UDA and ODM can somehow give her a breathing space in the battle for Migori County Governor seat. In the past, joining UDA would have been considered a big political blunder especially for a Luo Nyanza politician.
Going to 2027, Dr Odhiambo is one female politician to watch. Can she pull a shocker and send home the incumbent? Or will it be another defeat for her in the race to control Migori County billions? Well, only time will tell.
