Political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is the most likely successor to the late Raila Odinga as the political kingpin of the Nyanza region.

Speaking during an interview on his YouTube channel, Manyora said Babu is naturally positioned to take over the political mantle due to his growing influence and strong connection with the youth.

He described Babu as the most prominent figure currently emerging from Nyanza, arguing that politics is driven by people and numbers, and that Babu has proven capable of drawing large, enthusiastic crowds.

Manyora further explained that anyone rising to political prominence is bound to face challenges. He addressed the recent claims questioning Babu Owino’s roots, including accusations that he is not a native of the region and is of Indian descent.

In response, Babu showcased his home and relatives to affirm his identity. Manyora defended him, saying such obstacles are normal in politics and are often meant to derail rising leaders.

He went on to compare Babu Owino’s rise to that of former U.S. President Barack Obama, noting that during Obama’s ascent to power, many people claimed he was not truly American and alleged he was Kenyan.

Manyora stated that whenever someone becomes a political threat, various obstacles and false narratives are imposed to derail their rise, but true leaders always overcome them.
