A young woman has been left heartbroken after her boyfriend of over a year abruptly ended their relationship, citing poverty in her family as the reason.
The emotional break-up came shortly after he visited her home and met her parents — a moment she believed marked a step toward marriage.
Taking to TikTok, the devastated woman shared her painful experience, revealing that the man’s behavior changed drastically following the visit. “He met them two weeks ago, and after that, things changed,” she said. “Calls decreased, and he rarely responded to my texts.”
After being ignored for nearly a week, she received a message that shattered her world. The boyfriend admitted he couldn’t continue the relationship because her family was poor.
He went as far as criticizing their home, saying there were no comfortable chairs for guests, they drank tap water, and the ceiling looked like it was about to collapse.
His cruel words have drawn outrage online. The woman also shared how her father had sacrificed all he had from his small farm to support her education, including a recently completed Master’s degree.
“I’m tired, and I don’t have tears left,” she wrote. “But this pain is deeper than I imagined.”
