Governor George Natembeya has had his say in public for the first time in days, and he has signaled an update about his injury which has been the cause of his absence from official duties and public life.
The Trans Nzoia governor through a short but comforting message disclosed that he was getting better and that the prayers and concern of the people of Kenya had helped him a lot during his absence.
The injury took its toll on Natembeya forcing him to slow down and take a doctor’s recommendation of treatment and rest.
He did not provide a thorough medical reasoning but nonetheless the governor made it clear that his situation was not life threatening and that he was steadily progressing in his recovery.
He stated that the break from the public eye was to give his body the opportunity to heal properly.
Governor Natembeya admitted that his unexpected disappearance had raised doubts and worries among the residents and the political observers.
He said that he considered it important to deal with the matter face-to-face in order to prevent speculation and disinformation.
Natembeya guaranteed that the people of Trans Nzoia that the county government had continued to operate as normal with his team and that no essential service was interrupted during his healing time.
He also took the occasion to acknowledge the medical staff and close friends who have been with him since the injury and have helped him.
The governor said that their tenderness and support have been a major factor in the process of his strengthening and gaining his self-assurance.
He went on to say that the goodwill messages from the residents not only within the county but also from outside meant a lot to him and his family.
Natembeya announced that he is very much willing to go back to his full duties when the doctors give him the OK.
He remarked that public service requires healthy and sound judgment and that it was a wise decision to take time off for recovery.
The governor promised to keep the public updated and said he was looking forward to being among the residents.
