Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad on Saturday, October 11, visited the site of the tragic capsizing of MV Dragon, a racing boat, along Tudor Creek.He was accompanied by the County Security Team led by Chairman Mohamed Nur, Jomvu MP Hon. Bady Twalib, and Mikindani MCA Jack Madialo.
Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, led by the Mombasa County Fire & Rescue Services.
So far, 19 people have been rescued, while three individuals remain unaccounted for. Authorities are urging the public to stay calm and allow professionals to continue their delicate work.
Governor Abdulswamad commended the bravery and swift response of all the teams involved in the operation.
These include the Mombasa County Fire & Rescue Services, the Kenya Navy, the Coast Guard, the Kenya Forest Service, the Red Cross, ACE Ambulance Services, Ocean Festival attendants, and volunteer divers led by Cpl Kibwana.
Their combined efforts have been critical in saving lives and coordinating the ongoing search for the missing individuals.
