The much-anticipated State Concert for the National Drama and Film Festivals has been delayed by the government until Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Belio Kipsang Bitok, the principal secretary for education, stated that the event would now take place in the Nakuru State Lodge.
Additionally, PS Bitok disclosed that the National Drama and Film Festival regulations are presently being examined by the Ministry of Education. This decision was made in the midst of a contentious national discussion that was triggered by the Butere Girls’ banned play Echoes of War, which received a lot of attention and criticism after it was prevented from being performed.
Bitok gave stakeholders his word that the review will work to guarantee equality, inclusivity, and conformity to constitutional principles, particularly those pertaining to freedom of speech. The PS added that the Ministry is dedicated to promoting the creative sector while safeguarding students’ well-being.
Key government officials, educators, and performers from all over the nation are anticipated to attend the revised event date.
