Mosiria

Former Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has received an employment offer from Mombasa businessman Haytham, popularly known as The Car Don, following his removal from office by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Haytham extended the offer through a TikTok video shared on Thursday, October 22, inviting Mosiria to join his automobile business and contribute to its marketing and advertising activities. The businessman expressed confidence that the former county official could use his public recognition and growing popularity to promote the company.

He also offered to provide Mosiria with a private office at the business premises, assuring him of support as he considered his next career move. Haytham encouraged him to focus on available opportunities rather than remain discouraged by losing his position in the county government.

According to the businessman, Mosiria’s established public profile and ability to attract attention could be valuable assets in expanding the company’s visibility and reaching more customers.

The offer came shortly after Governor Sakaja removed Mosiria from his role as Chief Officer for Public Participation, Citizen Engagement and Customer Service. The decision was communicated through a circular signed by Nairobi County Secretary Dr Machel Waikenda on Wednesday, October 21.

However, the notice did not provide specific reasons for Mosiria’s dismissal, leaving questions about the circumstances surrounding his departure from the county administration.

Following the changes, Zipporah Njeri Mwangi was appointed to oversee the office in an acting capacity. She will continue performing her duties in the City Culture, Arts and Tourism department alongside her temporary responsibilities.

Mosiria had become a prominent personality in Nairobi’s public affairs, frequently attracting attention through his activities and comments on issues concerning residents. His removal has therefore generated interest in what direction he will take next.

His departure also coincides with his growing political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election. On October 11, Mosiria announced his intention to contest the Nairobi governorship during a church service hosted by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

The declaration suggested that he could emerge as a challenger to Sakaja in the race for the county’s top leadership position.

Mosiria has previously raised concerns about his relationship with the county administration, alleging that he had been sidelined since December 2023. He also questioned certain aspects of the county’s budgetary arrangements.

For now, it remains uncertain whether Mosiria will accept Haytham’s employment offer or concentrate on his political ambitions as he prepares for his next chapter outside City Hall.
