A section of Garissa residents on Saturday cheered on the Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa after she praised President William Ruto.
Speaking in Ijaara Constituency during the homecoming ceremony of Falhada Iman Dekow after she landed an opportunity to serve as a member of East African Legislative Assembly, Jumwa said that the milestone was achieved through the president’s goodwill of mentoring young leaders and giving women an opportunity in leadership positions.
Jumwa revealed that a while back when president Ruto called for a meeting with all Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders, he singled out Falhada for remaining steadfast in the UDA campaigns in Northern Kenya, assuring her that her efforts would not go unrewarded.
The CS implored upon the elders of the Northeastern community to join her and the ministry among other people of good will in fight against Gender Based Curiculum, and FGM.
“I want to confirm today that the girl child have been given opportunity in President Ruto’s government from the cabinet to the other positions even in counties. For Falhada to be here today, it is because of Ruto’s support remembering that more than 70 leaders wanted that position,” said Jumwa attracting cheers from the attendees.
Jumwa further criticized the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance for their rallies against the Kenya Kwanza government, saying that the political tension rising in the country is not giving women and children their peace of mid, and should be called off.
“We all know what is happening in the country, those in the opposition should know that the most affected by their deeds are the women and children, they want want an handshake with the government, they should come slowly.”
