Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday joined Christian faithful and leaders in Ruai, Nairobi County, for the elevation of Rev. Maina wa OTC to the office of Bishop during a colorful church ceremony attended by worshippers from different regions.
The event, held at the Born Again Evangelism Church, attracted religious leaders, politicians, and hundreds of believers who gathered to witness the consecration ceremony described by many as a major milestone in the church’s leadership.
In a message shared after the event, Gachagua congratulated the newly elevated bishop and prayed for wisdom, faithfulness, and strength as he begins his new spiritual responsibility.
“Congratulations Rev. Maina wa OTC on elevation to the office of Bishop today,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President quoted scripture while emphasizing the importance of spiritual leadership and dedication to God’s work. He referenced the biblical practice of anointing priests with oil, saying the ceremony symbolized divine calling and service to God’s people.
Gachagua described the occasion as a blessing, saying he was honored to worship alongside Christians and leaders during the special event in Ruai.
“It was a great blessing to join Christians and leaders at the Born Again Evangelism Church in Ruai on this blessed occasion,” he stated.
He further prayed for Bishop Maina, urging him to remain committed to the Gospel and steadfast in serving believers.
“I pray for you as you work in the Vineyard of the Lord. May you remain faithful to God and Gospel as you serve His people,” he added.
The event comes at a time when political leaders across the country continue increasing engagements with religious institutions as preparations for future political alignments slowly begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Church leaders who attended the ceremony called for unity, peace, and moral leadership in the country, urging Kenyans to remain hopeful despite economic and political challenges.
The consecration ceremony ended with prayers for the nation, church leadership, and peace in Kenya.
“God bless you, God bless Kenya,” Gachagua concluded in his message after the ceremony.
