Questions surrounding Kevin Kimwatu’s private life have continued to attract attention following the death of his wife, Rosemary Koech, with people offering different accounts of the man at the centre of the ongoing family dispute.
One of Kimwatu’s friends has now offered his own perspective, asking the public to be more cautious about forming conclusions based on posts and commentary circulating online.
Writing on Facebook, the friend said his observations came from spending time with Kimwatu over a period of nearly two years. He described experiences that, in his view, showed a side of Kimwatu that was not being reflected in some of the discussions taking place on social media.
Among the details he recalled were occasions when Kimwatu would leave gatherings before other friends. The departures, he suggested, were not unusual and had become something those around him had come to understand.
The friend later gave an explanation for the pattern, saying Kimwatu had a reason that required him to leave even when others remained behind.
He said Kimwatu would sometimes cut short his time with friends because he had to collect his children from school. The friend presented this as an indication that his responsibilities as a father often took precedence over social engagements.
The account came as the friend pushed back against descriptions of Kimwatu being circulated online. He argued that people who had little knowledge of the family’s private affairs should be careful about attaching labels to him.
He also criticised the introduction of tribal arguments into the wider discussion, questioning whether such comments offered any meaningful contribution at a time when the family was dealing with a loss.
The friend said he had recently spent time with Kimwatu and observed the effect the intense public attention was having on him. He urged people to remember that social media discussions can have consequences for the individuals and families involved.
He also raised concerns about the children, noting that they could eventually encounter online posts about their parents and the difficult period the family is currently experiencing.
His message ultimately called for restraint and empathy, asking people to consider the circumstances of those directly affected before making further comments.
Rosemary died on August 21, 2026. Her death has since drawn considerable attention, while disagreements over her burial arrangements have also resulted in a court case involving members of her family.
