Fresh details have emerged in the killing of a senior hospital manager after detectives revealed he was allegedly trapped through people he knew and trusted.

Investigators from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations say the suspects behind the murder hired and paid close friends of the victim to gain his confidence and lead him into danger.

The victim, identified by family members as Mr Nyaga, worked as the deputy catering manager at the Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital and lived in the Gatongora area of Ruiru.

According to relatives, Mr Nyaga was resting in his bedroom on the night of February 2 when he received a phone call that changed everything.

Shortly after the call, he stepped outside his home and never returned.

Family members believe the people who contacted him knew his routines well.

They say he was a careful man who rarely trusted strangers, which is why familiar names and known contacts were allegedly used to convince him to leave the house.Days later, the family’s fears were confirmed when his body was discovered dumped far from his home.

The finding shocked relatives and residents of Gatongora, who struggled to understand how friendship could be turned into a weapon.

His widow, Edith Warui, has been left devastated by the loss.

Friends say she is still trying to come to terms with how her life changed in one night, moving from normal family life to grief and unanswered questions.

The murder has caused fear and anger in the community, with many residents calling for swift justice.

Detectives say investigations are ongoing and have assured the family that all those involved will be traced and charged.

As the probe continues, Mr Nyaga’s family is appealing for justice and urging authorities to ensure that trust is not allowed to become a tool for such a crime again.
