Eric and Nasibo

Self-proclaimed activist and philanthropist Eric Omondi stepped in on Friday to assist former Nation Media Group journalist Nasibo Kabale. In a short video update, Omondi confirmed that Nasibo had been removed from the streets and was receiving the necessary care.

During his visit to Nasibo’s mother’s residence in Jamhuri, Nairobi, Omondi announced that Nasibo had been transported to a health facility in Nairobi and had been admitted for rehabilitation. He addressed rumors about Nasibo being homeless, urging the public to handle the situation with sensitivity.

Omondi explained, “As I speak, Nasibo is safe and has been taken to a rehabilitation center with her brother’s help. She is doing well and will continue to improve. We needed clarity on her condition because there were conflicting reports.”

He added that he had been updated by Nasibo’s mother and urged Kenyans to pray for her recovery. Nasibo’s mother also confirmed that her daughter was safe, had been admitted to a rehab facility, and was not homeless as suggested by recent viral videos.

The video, which recently circulated widely, showed Nasibo in disheveled clothing and holding a knife for protection. In the video, she described her struggles, including a diagnosis of depression during her time as a health reporter and the emotional toll of witnessing frequent deaths.

Nasibo shared that despite being one of the five retained employees after job cuts, the increasing distress from her work eventually led her to contemplate leaving her job and even her life.
