Comedian Eric Omondi has announced a new initiative aimed at encouraging Kenyan youth to participate actively in the electoral process. In a post on Monday, October 6, Omondi shared details of what he has dubbed “Peperusha Tuesday.”
Addressing Gen Z, Eric Omondi emphasized the importance of young voters in shaping the country’s future.
He noted that 70 percent of Kenyan voters are young people, & encouraged them not to accept narratives suggesting that the youth do not or will not vote.
“Tomorrow is PEPERUSHA TUESDAY. Dear Gen Zs, this is our God-given moment to change this country,” Omondi stated in his post.
As part of the initiative, Omondi is asking young people to share videos of themselves either registering as voters or celebrating their voter identification cards.
Fans and supporters can send their videos via WhatsApp to 0726959111 or post them on social media, tagging Omondi.
Tomorrow, Eric Omondi plans to feature these submissions throughout the day on his social media platforms to mark Peperusha Tuesday.
The campaign underscores the influential role of social media and celebrity advocacy in promoting civic engagement among young people.
Eric Omondi’s approach combines entertainment with civic responsibility, aiming to make voter participation relatable and exciting.
By mobilizing the youth, the initiative seeks to strengthen democratic engagement and ensure that the voices of young Kenyans are heard in upcoming elections.
Peperusha Tuesday is expected to generate widespread participation, fostering a sense of responsibility and empowerment among the country’s next generation of voters.
