KBC Radio crew on Saturday gathered in Mumias East, Kakamega County, to bid farewell to their colleague, the late Edmond Salasya.The gathering brought together journalists and other KBC staff who travelled from Nairobi and other parts of the country to honour the veteran Radio Taifa presenter and production assistant.
Salasya was remembered for his dedication to broadcasting and his contribution to KBC’s Kiswahili programming.
He had become a familiar voice to Radio Taifa listeners through his work on various programmes, earning the respect of colleagues and audiences over the years.
The burial ceremony at Inyera Village in Mumias East provided an opportunity for those who worked closely with Salasya to celebrate his life and reflect on his contribution to the media industry.
His colleagues have described him as a dedicated, dependable and hardworking professional whose presence in the newsroom and studios will be deeply missed.
KBC management also mourned his passing, noting his significant contribution to the corporation.
The funeral came days after colleagues held memorial and prayer services in Nairobi to honour the late broadcaster.
During the gatherings, members of the KBC fraternity shared memories of Salasya and expressed their grief over his sudden death.Salasya’s death has continued to attract messages of condolence from colleagues, friends and listeners who became familiar with his voice through Radio Taifa.
Edmond Salasya died on September 10, 2026, after reportedly suffering a sudden lung collapse.
KBC said he had fallen ill at home and was taken for emergency treatment but died despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life.
