MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalango, joined Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and other Members of Parliament at Lee Funeral Home to bid farewell to the late Hon. Ong’ondo Were.The emotional moment, captured in widely circulated photograph, showed MP Jalango wearing black jeans and shirt as he left the morgue after paying his respects to his late colleague.
Jalango later shared with the public his experience during the solemn occasion.
He expressed the collective sorrow of the MPs as they made their way to the family home in Karen to offer their condolences to Were’s family.
“May he rest in peace forever. I visited Lee Funeral Home today with Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and other MPs to offer our final condolences to the late Hon. Ong’ondo Were.
We then went to his home in Karen to express our sincere sympathies to his relatives,” Jalango wrote on social media.The Lang’ata MP also reflected on his personal bond with the late two-term MP. He recalled a conversation with a physiotherapist who had been treating Were on the day of his tragic death.
“All we were discussing was how terrible it was. That evening, he had barely finished treating Charles when the incident occurred. I have lost a brother and a friend,” he shared.
Meanwhile, four suspects have been arrested in connection to the assassination of the Kasipul MP.
The suspects appeared before the JKIA Magistrate’s Court, where they were remanded for further investigation.
The authorities are gathering key evidence to link the suspects to the crime and identify others involved in the assassination.
