Emotional scenes were witnessed at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) as staff in the Paediatric Surgical Ward bid farewell to a pair of conjoined twins who had been under their care for two years.
The two girls had spent a significant part of their early lives receiving care and support from medical staff at the hospital.
After two years under the watch of the paediatric surgical team, the twins have now transitioned to Mercy Servants of the Poor Home in Kithyoko, Machakos County.
The new environment is expected to provide the girls with a home-like setting where they can continue growing and developing while receiving the care and support they need.
For the KNH staff who had cared for them for two years, the transition marked an emotional moment as they said goodbye to the children they had watched grow during their time at the hospital.
Their departure also represented a new chapter in the girls’ lives, moving from a hospital environment into a setting designed to offer a more familiar and home-like experience.
